Field Trip: Eliot Morris
There's a generation of kids now in their 20s and 30s who were raised from the crib listening to The Beatles, Dylan, Neil Young, Paul Simon, etc. so I guess it's no great surprise that there are a bunch young musicians that are making music that appeals to old guys like me. I went up to the Belly Up last night to see Eliott Morris. He did a really nice set. Morris told a story about how his parents listened to Paul Simon's Graceland CD about a million times so it was a nice moment when he added a little Graceland to the backend of one of his songs. He also covered Young's Heart of Gold.
I think everyone should buy his CD. He seemed like a good kid, and he obviously has great parents.
Morris opened for Bob Schneider. Schneider, one of Austin's mainstays, plays frat party rock, country, rap, reggae, and blues. His fans were out in force and very enthusiastic. I left about half through.
